Backstory: She grew up in Tokyo with her parents and led a very happy life. However, as the years passed by, her parents started to get more distant. Months later, the tension grew into arguments. One day, when she was 10, her dad proposed a divorce. They later bickered about who should have custody of her and being unable to listen anymore, she ran to her room.
Kyubey appeared and offered a contract. Wanting the family to be friendly again, she wished that her parents won’t divorce. Before long, her family became a happy family for a while… Eventually, her parents loved each other so much that they forgot about her. Seeing that her wish has backfired, she left her house and went to Mitakihara to live with her aunt, as it was not as crowded as Tokyo.
There, she started school and witch hunting. Because she's a Puella Magi, she cannot join clubs after school. Combined with her quietness, this makes her classmates think that she is not worth being a friend with. Her aunt is also worried about her because she frequently arrives home late. To curb her stress, she started reading shojo manga. Ai still questions herself whether or not Kyubey twists his contractor's wish.
Additional: Although she's not very strong, her powers will backfire whenever she sees child abuse or broken families.
